Why Can E-cigarettes Develop?
BY Nicole Winter @ December 07, 2022

A survey of different e-commerce platforms found that many vendors are selling e-cigarettes, with prices ranging from 99 yuan ($15) to 25,000 yuan ($3,583). Vape products are mainly divided into two different types, mod/pod mod system, and disposable vape.

According to the customer service of a business, there are two types of people who come to buy vapes. One is the wife who buys them for her smoking husband, hoping that he will quit smoking. This account for the majority. Few smokers buy their vapes in an attempt to quit. The other is trendy young people, many of whom don't smoke themselves, who buy vapes more for fun than to smoke.

"Young people account for more than 30 percent of consumption, and the percentage is rising." Some merchants said that some young people saw their friends playing on their hands and thought it was cool, so they also bought it. "Some of them just say they don't smoke, and they just buy an e-cigarette to take selfies, so it needs to be cool and smoky."

Where there is a demand, there is a market. There are several brands of e-cigarettes that have products specifically aimed at young people, such as emphasizing fruit flavor and vapor. According to the introduction, many brands are aiming at the young group as they are the main consumers in the market.

Since their introduction in 2003, e-cigarettes have been touted by many as an alternative to traditional cigarettes, but the health risks are controversial in the scientific community. Vaping vapes can damage immune cells in the lungs, and e-cigarettes may be more harmful than previously thought, a new British study says, according to reports.

Sales of e-cigarettes have been on the rise in recent years, with the global e-cigarette market reaching $12 billion in 2017, according to the 2017 World Tobacco Development Report.

But there have been conflicting views on the effectiveness and dangers of e-cigarettes.

The World Health Organization released a report in 2014 saying there was insufficient evidence that e-cigarettes helped smokers quit smoking. E-cigarettes may be more likely to lead to nicotine addiction, according to a study from the University of California, San Francisco.

At present, 90% of the world's e-cigarettes are produced in China, but the market share is not high. Some analysts say that if the penetration rate of e-cigarettes increases, the Chinese market will exceed that of Europe and the United States combined.

Hong Kong has banned the sale of e-cigarettes

But there are concerns about e-cigarettes. In August 2018, the Beijing Tobacco Control Association said that popular e-cigarettes also emit harmful secondhand smoke and should be banned in public places and that it planned to push for the inclusion of e-cigarettes in tobacco control. In October 2018, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region announced a total ban on the sale of e-cigarettes and other new tobacco products.
